Stabbing Suspect ID'd In Rancho Santa Margarita Sunday Standoff
Alberto Robiatti, 39, was arrested Sunday after engaging in an hourslong standoff with the Orange County Sheriff's Department in RSM.
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — A stabbing suspect who engaged in an hourslong standoff with the Orange County Sheriff's Department Sunday has been identified as Alberto Robiatti, a resident of Orange County.
Robiatti was arrested Sunday evening for outstanding warrants as well as assault with a deadly weapon, OCSD reported. It is not yet clear what charges Robiatti will face if found guilty.
OCSD Public Information Officer Sgt. Todd Hylton said Robiatti's last known address was a residence in Irvine, though he has heard that Robiatti was living in Rancho Santa Margarita at the time of the incident.

The incident began with a 911 call around 1:45 p.m. in the area of Alma Aldea, between Calle de Vida and Bienvenidos, according to OCSD. A person was stabbed and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures, CBS2 reported. Robiatti then went into a nearby apartment occupied by a man, a woman and child, the station reported.
Deputies continued to try to make contact with Robiatti and eventually broke a window in the apartment before throwing a cell phone inside, the station reported.

OCSD tweeted around 8 p.m. that the situation was peacefully resolved and authorities were leaving the scene.
