State Offers New Tool for Researching Area Schools
Looking to make an informed decision? Access to info such as test scores, demographics and class sizes may help.

Want to compare public schools? The California Department of Education has a new tool to make it easier.
Called the School Quality Snapshot, you just plug in a school name and wait for it to generate a couple-page report that includes all sorts of information, such as academic performance, ethnic make-up, class sizes and more.
It also includes averages for the school district the school's in and for the state. For example, for Arroyo Vista Elementary, the report shows that while the school in 2012-13 had a smaller class size almost in line with the Capistrano Unified School District as a whole, proficiency in English dipped but science increased, while math was about the same.
Happy researching.
