RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Over 1,000 cyclists took part in this weekend's Ride For Rwanda, according to Rancho Santa Margarita Orange County Sheriff's Department police services. The weather cooperated, and riders enjoyed the race, with the help of OCSD officers who diverted and stopped traffic.

"1,100 riders rode to change the world (Saturday)," event coordinators said over social media. "Another year has come to a close and we cannot help being humbled by the involvement, from our volunteers to OCSD, to the OC Park Rangers, everyone brings something amazing to the table."

Riders delayed traffic on Empressa between Comercio to Adventura during the ride, officials said.
