Wrong Way Driver, 72, Killed In 241 Toll Road Crash, 3 More Hurt
A driver heading north in southbound lanes fatally struck a truck after 11 p.m. Thursday night. 3 Corona residents suffered major injuries.
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA —A 72-year-old Gardena man driving the wrong way on the 241 overnight triggered a three-vehicle crash died at the scene, authorities said Friday. Three others were injured in the multi-car collision.
The as-of-yet unidentified 72-year-old driver of a 2010 Toyota Camry was headed north in the southbound lanes when he slammed into a southbound 2006 Ford F-150 whose driver couldn't swerve out of the way in time, according to the California Highway Patrol.
That truck then crashed into a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro.

The pickup truck's driver, a 19-year-old Corona man, sustained significant injuries and was rushed to UC Irvine Medical Center, according to the CHP.
Two passengers in that truck, an 18-year-old Corona man and a 19-year-old Corona woman, were also injured and taken to UCI.

The 19-year-old driver of the Camaro, a Riverside man, escaped injury, as did his 23-year-old passenger.
Police have not ruled out alcohol or drugs playing a part in the collision, the CHP said.
