Redlands GameStop store hit twice by robberies within 6 months (redlandsdailyfacts.com) — A GameStop at Citrus Plaza in Redlands has been robbed twice in less than six months, most recently on Aug. 10 by five masked suspects who stole cash and game controllers. Redlands police say no one was hurt, but no arrests have been made, and investigators are probing possible links to a similar GameStop robbery in San Bernardino.
2. New rehabilitation hospital breaks ground in Redlands (communityforwardredlands.com) — A new 80-bed Loma Linda University Rehabilitation Hospital is being built on New Jersey Street near the Redlands–Loma Linda border, with opening planned for summer 2028. The facility will nearly double the health system's inpatient rehab capacity, offering intensive therapy for stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, and other serious conditions close to home for Redlands residents.
3. New playgrounds, safety upgrades advance under Measure D (communityforwardredlands.com) — Redlands Unified is rolling out new playgrounds at Cram, Judson & Brown, and Smiley elementary schools and advancing a $3.82 million safety project at Beattie Middle School, all funded by Measure D. Additional work includes pool upgrades at Redlands East Valley High, ADA and hardcourt improvements, and planning for modernization across several campuses, with oversight officials reporting more than $26 million already invested.
4. Explore County Services: Discover why San Bernardino County libraries are the coolest places to be – Welcome to San Bernardino County (sbcounty.gov) — San Bernardino County Library cardholders in Redlands can check out special passes for free admission to the San Bernardino County Museum in town, along with other perks like park access and online learning. The system's 32 branches also offer observatories, maker spaces, nature programs, and even accredited high school diplomas, making libraries a powerful resource for local families.
5. Chino Valley schools removed over 20 books about LGBTQ+, minority people, complaint alleges (redlandsdailyfacts.com) — Parents in Chino Valley have filed a state complaint alleging their school district's book-removal policy illegally targets LGBTQ+ and minority-themed titles, and similar policies have spread nearby. In Redlands, a related policy led to "The Bluest Eye" and "Push" being pulled or restricted from school libraries within months, raising questions about student access to diverse literature across the region.
