Pedestrian Killed In Hit-And-Run Collision Near 10 Freeway In Redlands: CHP

CHP said the victim may have been struck by the hit-and-run vehicle in the early morning.

REDLANDS, CA — Authorities are searching for the hit-and-run vehicle that killed a 27-year-old man near the 10 Freeway in Redlands on Wednesday, authorities said.

Around 11:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was notified about a pedestrian lying near the right shoulder of the westbound 10 Freeway near the westbound 210 Freeway.

CHP officers responded to the scene and confirmed the pedestrian was fatally injured by a vehicle that fled the scene.

The victim was identified as Christian Gillespie, a Redlands resident.

CHP said the victim may have been struck by the hit-and-run vehicle in the early morning.

CHP said no description of the suspected hit-and-run vehicle is currently available, and investigators are checking nearby Flock cameras to identify the vehicle.

The investigation prompted CHP to temporarily close all lanes of the westbound 10 Freeway at University Street and the westbound 210 Freeway up to Greenspot Road in Highland, triggering a traffic jam Wednesday afternoon.

No additional information was immediately available.
