1. Haunted Harvest Dance Social Set For Oct. 22 In Redlands (patch.com) — Redlands seniors 55 and older are invited to a Haunted Harvest Dance Social at the Joslyn Senior Center on Oct. 22, offering music, food, and Halloween-themed fun. For just $5, attendees can enjoy dancing, photo opportunities, and time to socialize with neighbors at the Grant Street center, with enrollment now open online.
2. Redlands drops Olive Avenue Halloween event amid safety, budget concerns (communityforwardredlands.com) — Redlands is canceling its city-sponsored Olive Avenue Halloween Extravaganza this year, shifting the official celebration to a larger "Plane-or-Treat" event at Redlands Municipal Airport on Sunday, Oct. 25. Olive Avenue will still close to cars on Halloween night for safety, but the city cites crowding, pedestrian risks, and tight budgets driven by big capital projects and new labor costs as reasons for consolidating events.
3. Redlands Police Logs Sept. 21 (redlandscommunitynews.com) — Recent Redlands police logs detail a busy stretch of late September, with incidents ranging from auto thefts and shoplifting to drug possession, domestic violence, and school-related marijuana cases. The reports list specific Redlands locations like local schools, parks, and businesses, giving residents a clear snapshot of where crime and safety issues have been concentrated around town.
4. Redlands drops plans for 140-space parking lot in downtown (sbsun.com) — Redlands officials have scrapped plans for a 140-space downtown parking lot on San Bernardino County Transportation Authority land north of Redlands Boulevard, citing lack of funding and budget restraints. The $650,000 project, already $104,000 into design, was meant to ease the long-standing parking crunch near State and Orange streets, but councilmembers and residents questioned whether people would actually use a more distant lot.
