The student commissioner program provides young residents with a direct role in municipal decision-making, allowing them to contribute their perspectives to discussions about community needs and city services, the city said.

Each commission meets four times a year at the City Council Chambers, 35 Cajon Street, giving students an opportunity to engage in local government while balancing their academic commitments.

The Human Relations Commission works to promote respect and understanding across Redlands. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. in March, June, September and December.

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission focuses on city parks, trails and recreational programs. It meets at 4:30 p.m. in March, June, September and December.

The Traffic & Parking Commission addresses traffic safety and parking concerns throughout the city. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. in February, May, August and November.

Eligible RUSD sophomores and juniors interested in serving are encouraged to review the available openings and submit their applications before the Nov. 16 deadline.

Applications are due Monday, Nov. 16, and can be submitted by email to RedlandsOCM@cityofredlands.org. More information is available at redlands.gov/current-openings.
