'Avengers: Age of Ultron' to screen at CSUSB Aug. 20

Cal State San Bernardino's John M. Pfau Library will screen "Avengers: Age of Ultron" on the library lawn on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 8 p.m.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – If you enjoyed the action-packed film in theatres and want to see it again, Cal State San Bernardino’s John M. Pfau Library will screen “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on the library lawn on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 8 p.m.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” is the sequel to “Marvel’s The Avengers,” the 2012 film directed by Joss Whedon.

The first film follows Nick Fury, director of Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.), as he pursues Loki, the Asgardian god of mischief, who stole the Tesseract, a powerful energy source of unknown potential, from a remote research facility. As part of his effort, Fury activates the Avengers initiative, which calls for Ironman, Captain America, Hawkeye, the Hulk, and Black Widow, who were later joined by Thor, the Asgardian god of thunder, to help them retrieve the Tesseract. The film follows the Avengers as they try to become united as a team and the challenges they face in battle against Loki.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” also directed by Whedon, follows the Avengers as they raid a Hydra hideout, where the evil group is experimenting on humans by using a piece of the Tesseract to give them super powers. After discovering that the Tesseract had an artificial intelligence in it, Ironman decides to use it for his “Ultron” global defense system, but it turns on the Avengers, attacking them at their headquarters. The team goes underground to formulate a plan to defeat Ultron.

The film will be projected on an inflatable movie screen, ensuring that everyone will have a great view on the library lawn.

For this film, moviegoers are encouraged to dress in their favorite superhero costumes, and to bring their friends and family. Bring blankets, chairs and snacks for a relaxing summer night of fun.

Free popcorn will be provided. Family First Catering and Party Rental will also be available at the event selling tacos, nachos, hot dogs, beverages and more.

The screening is the fifth of seven “movies on the lawn” being shown this summer to the public. Next week’s movie screening will be “Furious 7” on Aug. 27.
