A paper co-authored by Donna Garcia, CSUSB professor of psychology, was cited in an article by Robert F. Shedinger, professor of Religion at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, βIs Methodological Naturalism Racist?β
Shedinger wrote, βCriticisms of methodological naturalism usually revolve around philosophical issues. I never even considered that methodological naturalism could possibly contribute to the perpetuation of systemic racism. That is, until I read a paper appearing in 2020 in the journalΒ Social Psychology of EducationΒ titled βWhy Are There So Few Ethnic Minorities in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology?β Co-authored by a biologist and psychologist at Tulane University along with a psychologist at California State University San Bernardino, the paper raises interesting questions about the role of religiosity in preventing underrepresented groups, especially African Americans, from becoming involved in the fields of ecology and evolutionary biology (EEB).β

The testimony by Tony Coulson, executive director at the Cybersecurity Center at California State University in San Bernardino, before a Congressional committee was cited in an article about the U.S. government hiring more cybersecurity professionals.
Coulson testified in August before the House Homeland Security Committeeβs Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation. He told the committee members that the hiring process for cybersecurity workers is now out-of-date and even college degree requirements might exclude some top talent.
