CSUSB president brings students to annual HACU conference

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Continuing his tradition of including Cal State San Bernardino students at education conferences, CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales brought a large contingency of 35 students to the 27th annual Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.

The three-day HACU conference, which was held in Chicago in October, provided a unique forum for sharing ideas and best practices on increasing college completion rates of Hispanics.

Morales, who serves as vice chair of the HACU Governing Board, is pictured on the cover of the fall edition of “The Voice of Higher Education,” the association’s quarterly magazine.

The president said the annual conference is not only beneficial to educators, but also provides a wonderful setting for the CSUSB faculty and staff, and especially students, to interact and learn about assorted educational programs.

“Our students, who made up one of the largest groups -- if not the largest group -- at the HACU conference, had the great opportunity to network with potential future employers and attend the various college-related workshops,” Morales said.  “Experiences like these are great for students, because they broaden perspectives, enhance skill-sets and ignite a desire to achieve even greater academic and professional aspirations.”
