SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Cal State San Bernardino has one of the best overall online degree programs in California, according to a new ranking by the website Affordable Colleges Online, “Online Colleges in California That Win on Affordability.”
Focusing specifically on distance learning options at fully accredited public and private non-profit colleges and universities, AC Online analyzed online degree programs from more than 2,000 accredited colleges and universities across the nation and determined that CSUSB “offers an exceptional collection of distance learning options at a very affordable price.”
CSUSB was recognized for its combination of quality, affordability and flexibility.

“For-profit schools no longer dominate the distance-learning landscape,” said Dan Schuessler, founder and CEO of AC Online. “So many of today’s top universities have added full online degree programs to their catalogs, making it much easer for non-traditional students to receive a quality education.”
James M. Monaghan, assistant vice president for academic technologies and distributed learning at CSUSB, said that the university takes a measured, intentional approach to online learning, utilizing best practices in instructional design to develop and deliver highly interactive online courses and programs.

“We provide these courses and programs to enable those who could not physically attend classes to gain the same quality education as our on-site students,” Monaghan said. “Our mission to serve our region and beyond drives our commitment to online learning. The ability to gain a high quality California State University education despite challenges of location, job commitments and family commitments makes our programs highly valuable for students. And all of our courses are taught by experienced and world-class faculty.”
Cal State San Bernardino currently offers online graduate programs in education, criminal justice, public administration, business, nursing and social work. Monaghan said the university anticipates adding undergraduate degree completion programs in social work, liberal studies and other disciplines in the social sciences.
