CSUSB students repeat with ADDY Award

Building on last year’s success, Cal State San Bernardino advertising students brought home another ADDY Award given by the American Advertising Federation-Inland Empire Chapter.

The students in the Coyote Advertising Program at CSUSB earned honors in the student competition for a mixed media campaign for their Grad DVD Campaign. They were honored at the ADDY Awards March 9 at the Mission Inn in Riverside, with more than 200 people in attendance.

The Inland Empire ADDY Awards is the first of a three-tier national competition. Nation-wide, local entrants vie for recognition as the very best in their markets to advance to the next level of competition.

In 2011, Coyote Advertising won four ADDY Awards, with winning commercials in the Student Radio Category for their clients Rosa Maria’s restaurant, Fun Corner, House of Beauty and Little Beijing restaurant, and added a fifth in the self-promotion campaign category.

Coyote Advertising serves as a full-service advertising agency managed by university staff and students. It is a growing division of the university’s academic computing and media department, providing advertising agency services to the campus and to businesses throughout the entire inland region.

β€œThe Coyote Advertising Program is a dynamic learning environment where one truly learns the art and science of advertising,” said Victoria Seitz, a CSUSB marketing professor and past president of the AAF-Inland Empire Chapter.Β  β€œThe students not only work on real advertising issues and develop creative that has been recognized by the Inland Empire chapter of the American Advertising Federation, but they also visit other agencies and network with area advertisers.”

The program has β€œmade a significant contribution to developing advertising talent for the local industry,” Seitz said. β€œThere are only a limited number of opportunities for young people to develop not only the creative side of advertising but the account side as well. The Coyote Advertising Program accomplishes this with one-on-one mentoring and training of 15 students each quarter.”

Recognized for their work on the Grad DVD campaign were: MaryAnna D’Amico, of San Diego – graphic design; Evan Grossjan of Yucaipa, Jonathan Moline of Riverside and Mathew Shaw of Etiwanda – copywriting/production; and Cindy Todorovich of Victorville, Stephanie Smith of Beaumont, Aaron Panther of Twenty Nine Palms, David Nguyen of San Bernardino and Prince Thompson of Riverside – marketing.

The American Advertising Federation–Inland Empire, a non-profit chapter of the American Advertising Federation, is comprised of professionals in San Bernardino and parts of Riverside and Los Angeles counties from all industry segments, including advertising and media agency owners, marketing directors, sales and media managers, suppliers, radio stations, graphic designers, photographers, webmasters, copywriters and academics.
