Hesperia Teen Dies From Rollover Crash in Riverside

One of the seven people seriously injured in a rollover crash on I-215 near Perris died from his injuries, the Riverside County coroner’s office said Saturday.
He was identified as 18-year-old Raymond Mendez Jr. of Hesperia, according to the coroner’s office.

The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. on the southbound I-215 just north of the Ramona Expressway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The driver of a vehicle lost control and overturned twice on the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Four of the vehicle’s seven occupants were ejected onto the freeway, said the Riverside County Fire Department’s Jody Hagemann. All of the injured were transported to inland trauma centers with major injuries.
Mendez was pronounced dead at 2:07 p.m. at the Riverside County Regional Medical Center, the coroner’s office said.
