Highland Men Arrested With Meth, Marijuana and Bullet Proof Vest

Two Highland men were arrested this weekend after sheriff's deputies say they found a bullet proof vest, marijuana and methamphetamine during the service of a search warrant.

According to a statement released Tuesday by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, 44-year-old Michael Gonzales and 22-year-old Danny Castro were taken into custody Sunday.

The department served a search warrant at a home in the 7400 block of Valaria Drive, around 5:15 p.m.

"This was part of an ongoing investigation [where] deputies recovered an assault rifle with the serial number removed, two loaded 30 round magazines and a gas mask," the agency said in a statement.

Both men were taken to the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
