Man Hit by Semi Truck on I-10 in Loma Linda

CHP officials say he died at the scene of the crash

A 27-year-old Loma Linda man died this week after he was hit on Interstate 10 by a big rig, CHP officials said Tuesday.

According to CHP Officer Brian Alvarez, the incident happened around 9:55 p.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway, just east of Mt. View Avenue.

The man, whose identity hasn’t been released, was apparently trying to run across the busy roadway from the right shoulder. Meanwhile, a semi-truck was approaching.

“For reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian ran into the path of the Freightliner,” Alvarez said. “The force from the collision threw the pedestrian onto the right shoulder of eastbound I-10.”

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident call them at (909) 383-4247 as they conduct their investigation into the case.
