North Redlands Visioning Committee Hosts City Council Candidate Forum

The forum is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 23 at the Redlands Community Senior Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave., Mario Saucedo of the North Redlands Visioning Committee said.

Five of six candidates for two slots on the Redlands City Council are expected at a forum Tuesday night hosted by the North Redlands Visioning Committee, the committee chairman said.

The forum is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 23 at the Redlands Community Senior Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave., Mario Saucedo of the North Redlands Visioning Committee said.

Every registered Redlands voter will be able to vote for two council candidates on Nov. 6, according to the San Bernardino County Elections Office.

The candidates for Redlands City Council listed on the registrar's sample ballots are:

- Councilmember/business owner Pete Aguilar

- Small business owner Lane Schneider

- Fiscal analyst/businessman Mike Saifie

- Minister/businessman Don Wallace

- Retired accountant Pat Gilbreath

- Business owner Michael Layne

All six candidates took part in two previous forums, Oct. 11  presented by the Redlands Chamber of Commerce, and Oct. 15 presented by the Redlands Conservancy.

Wallace will not be able to attend Tuesday night's forum at the Redlands Community Senior Center because he will be out of town on a family matter, Saucedo said.

The North Redlands Visioning Committee was formed in 2005. The group's mission statement from its website states:

The North Redlands Visioning Committee is dedicated to working collaboratively with government, education, business, community and faith based organizations to enhance the quality of life for all. We are a diverse group committed to progress through responsible action. We strive to promote awareness, unity, respect, and integrity while preserving our heritage and the prosperity of our community.
