A Yucaipa man was jailed Monday, suspected of trying to attack his ex-girlfriend with his car-- and then allegedly barricading himself inside his house until police forced him out.
According to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, 51-year-old Christopher Reno tried to run his ex-girlfriend off the road with his vehicle on Thursday. The woman, who also lives in Yucaipa, contacted police who responded to find the man holed up inside his house.
"Reno barricaded himself inside and refused to come out to talk with deputies," the sheriff's statement said. "Deputies attempted to contact Reno via phone and PA system, but he refused to respond."
Deputies eventually had to enter the home with a search warrant, at which time they arrested Reno without incident, according to the sheriff's statement. However, he had to be taken to Redlands Community Hospital prior to jail, as "...he had taken an unknown amount of medication."
Reno is now being held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on assault with a deadly weapon charges in lieu of $60,000 bail, according to jail records.
