Ramos Leads in 3rd District, Aguilar Trails in 31st: Semi-Official Results

Turnout for the June 5 primary election countywide was estimated at 20 percent as of 2 a.m. Wednesday, and semi-official results reverberated in contests affecting Redlands and Loma Linda.

James Ramos took 46.92 percent of 42,410 votes counted in the race for San Bernardino County Third District supervisor, and incumbent Neil Derry earned a runoff in November with 32.84 percent, according to semi-official results released just before 2 a.m. June 6.

Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar trailed two front-runners in the race for the 31st Congressional District. Aguilar took 22.82 percent of 52,656 votes counted, while incumbent Gary Miller held the lead with 26.70 percent and Bob Dutton was second with 24.86 percent in semi-official results.

Outgoing Assemblyman Paul Cook held a slim lead in the vast new 8th Congressional District that includes Highland and Yucaipa, with 16.25 percent of 63,087 votes counted, according to semi-officials results. Gregg Imus was second with 14.87 percent and Jackie Conaway was third with 13.87 percent.

In the 40th State Assembly District, incumbent Mike Morrell took 57.89 percent of 38,149 votes counted and challenger Russ Warner took 42.11 percent, in a two-candidate race that automatically goes to runoff in November.

At the Registrar of Voters on Rialto Avenue in San Bernardino, hundreds of elections workers directed traffic, handled vehicle-loads of ballots, and many worked until midnight and beyond counting votes.
