HIGHLAND AVENUE WATER COMPLEX (HAWC) LEAK FAQ

  • What happened at the Highland Avenue Water
    Complex?
    • A major water leak occurred in a 16-inch water
      transmission main at the facility.
  • What impact does this have on the City of Redlands
    water system?
    • This transmission line provides water to about 6,200
      customer accounts which includes approximately 23,000
      residents in the City.
  • What impact does this have on the City of Redlands
    water customers?
    • City water customers may experience lower water pressure
      as a result of the leak. However, currently there are no
      reports of a significant amount of pressure loss.
  • Where are these customers/residents located?
  • Is there any issue with City’s water quality?
    • City’s Water quality is not affected. However, if water
      pressure drops below a critical level, boil water notices
      will be issued to affected customers.
  • How long until the leak is repaired?
    • A contractor will be onsite today and will work
      continuously until the leak is repaired. City staff
      anticipates the leak being repaired by the end of the week if
      not sooner.
