Road Closure Due to Pipeline Project to Last Into February

The Brookside Avenue Water Pipeline Replacement Project is currently under construction.

A $200,000 water pipe construction project will force the continued closure of Brookside Avenue through early February.

The Brookside Avenue Water Pipeline Replacement Project started Jan. 7. A new pipeline is being installed on Brookside Avenue between San Mateo Street and Roma Avenue, Redlands city officials said.

Eastbound traffic lanes on Brookside Avenue in this area will be closed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. During this time, traffic will be detoured to Olive Avenue. Construction could be completed by early February, officials said.

Parking on the south side of Brookside Avenue will be restricted during the duration of construction. And residents in the area will have access to their property, officials said.

The City Council awarded the contract for project to Christiansen Pipeline, Inc. on Oct. 2. The $289,660 project is funded by water funding sources.

"No General Fund dollars will be used to construct this project," said Carl Baker, public information official for the city.

The Brookside Avenue Water Pipeline Replacement Project is designed and managed by the City of Redlands Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department, Baker said.
