Sheriff's Officials Round Up 'Street Hoodlums' In Loma Linda
More than 400 vehicle stops were performed in Loma Linda and other San Bernardino County areas, resulting in a total of 85 arrests.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials announced Monday the results of an operation aimed at suppressing gang activity in the area.
Dubbed "San Bernardino County Movement Against Street Hoodlums," SMASH was a joint operation carried out on Friday, Sept. 6 by several county law enforcement agencies, according to an announcement from the sheriff's department.
With the help of the agencies, the department conducted a sweep of the unincorporated areas of San Bernardino, Colton, Devore, Muscoy, Arrowhead Farms, The San Manuel Casino Impact area and the city of Loma Linda.
"The officers conducted over 400 car stops and subject checks resulting in the arrest of 85 suspects for various charges," the announcement stated. "The arrests consisted of outstanding warrants, probation violations, parole violation and possession of illegal drugs."
Another four people were arrested for carrying loaded, concealed and/or stolen weapons, the agency said.
A pipe bomb was even found in a probation search at a residence in San Bernardino, officials said. It was turned over to the bomb unit.
