University closes July 4 for Independence Day holiday

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -Β Cal State San Bernardino will be closed Friday, July 4, through Sunday, July 6, in observance of Independence Day.

In addition, this week only, the campus will be operating on an 8 a.m.-5 p.m. schedule from Monday, June 30, through Thursday, July 3. Along with closing for the annual July 4 holiday, the campus also is closed on Fridays during the summer.

The university will return to its regular four-day, 10-hours-per-day summer workweek schedule on Monday, July 7, at 7 a.m. This is the 14th consecutive year the campus has operated on the revised summer schedule. Operating hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

Some offices remain open on Fridays during the summer, and University Police remain on duty every day.

The condensed workweek has helped the university reduce its energy consumption, while allowing the public more time to access university services during expanded hours Monday through Thursday.

In addition to the Friday closures, the campus will also be closed Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of Labor Day. The university will return to its traditional five-day work schedule on Monday, Sept. 8.

Cal State San Bernardino is conducting a 10-weekΒ summer school sessionΒ that runs through Aug. 28, as well as two accelerated six-week sessions; the first runs through July 24, and the second session runs July 28-Sept. 3.

The fall quarter will begin on Thursday, Sept. 25.
