61st Annual Christmas Pageant

A South Bay tradition since 1953, Neighborhood Church will present its 61st annual Christmas Pageant for the community on Sunday, December 14, 2014 with performances at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. The prelude in the Sanctuary features the Handbell Choirs of Neighborhood Church at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm, followed by Christmas carol singing and scripture reading.

More than 150 people participate in these nativity tableaux which feature costumed participants telling the story of the first Christmas. Attendees are invited on a pilgrimage to view seven nativity scenes presented throughout the spectacular ocean bluff grounds of Neighborhood Church, located at 415 Paseo del Mar in Palos Verdes Estates.

The scenes depicted include “The Annunciation,” followed by the “Departure of Mary and Joseph,” “Shepherds in the Field,” “At the Inn,” “Three Kings” and “Herod’s Court.” The final tableau, “The Manger,” is set in a cliff grotto overlooking the ocean.

This year Neighborhood Church is partnering with the Toberman House Food Pantry and we are asking attendees to bring cans of food to help stock their pantry this holiday season.

This is a free event and is the Neighborhood Church’s gift to the community. It usually draws large crowds, so come early, dress warmly and celebrate joyfully.
