Adoptable Animals Near Redondo Beach

After Fourth of July, shelters are more crowded than ever, so if you're in the market for a pet, consider adopting from a local shelter.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The day after Fourth of July is the busiest day of the year for shelters, according to Dogtime. With everyone else at the fireworks show, animals in high-stress often escape and are nowhere to be found. Although there are always animals to be adopted in local shelters, this time of year is especially important thanks to the influx of scared pets.

If you or your family are in the market for a new pet, consider skipping the pet stores and heading straight for the shelter. There are a plethora of animals available for adoption within Los Angeles County, here are just a few:

  • For small dog lovers, there's an extra scruffy, extra cute two-year old terrier available at Downey Animal Care Center.
    • Animal ID: A5088791
  • If you like cats but don't want to deal with kitten nibbles, check out this senior named George. He's already neutered and available at Agoura Animal Care Center.
    • Animal ID: A4645944
