Airport Business Magazine honors HNTB aviation expert James Long with "Top 40 Under 40" Award

HNTB Corporation’s aviation expert—James Long, PE, — was named as a “Top 40 Under 40” award recipient by Airport Business Magazine. The annual award recognizes 40 aviation industry professionals under the age of 40 for their academic, professional and community achievements. HNTB was the only company to have two award recipients this year.

Long is an integral member of HNTB’s aviation infrastructure team on the West Coast. He joined the firm in July 2009 as a civil engineer after serving as an aviation intern. Appointed project manager in July 2014, he works closely with clients and contractors as the primary engineer on successful airfield projects at major commercial, private and military airfields. His notable projects include the San Francisco International Airport Terminal 1 Redevelopment; Los Angeles International Airport Tom Bradley International Terminal Modernization, Runway 07L-25R Safety Improvements and United Airlines Terminal Redevelopment; and the Van Nuys Airport Runway 16R Rehabilitation. He is a private pilot and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, where he currently assists with student recruitment and mentoring projects. He also plays an active role in HNTB’s college recruiting program.
