Alert Issued After Baby Owls Start Falling From Redondo Beach Trees

Redondo Beach Animal Services has issued a public service announcement saying that baby owls who fall out of nests should be left alone.

Fledgling owls falling out of nests have resulted in Redondo Beach Animal Services and Redondo Beach Police issuing a public service announcement.

In the announcement, the agencies said that as part of their development, fledgling owls are often found on the ground as they develop.

"The little ones are likely just learning to fly and their parents are probably nearby, keeping an eye on them," Animal Services said.

Animal Services emphasized that the baby birds should be left alone and that residents should avoid approaching or handling fledglings.

Instead, they said, people should keep pets and children away from the area to help prevent harm.

However, anyone who believes a fledgling owl needs assistance can contact Redondo Beach Animal Services at (310) 379-2477.
