TORRANCE, CA — Police are searching for a suspect after a woman was grazed in the head by a bullet during an altercation involving people attending a large party in Torrance early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 12:45 a.m. Oct. 4 in the 3200 block of Danaha Street, where the gathering was taking place, according to an Oct. 5 release from the Torrance Police Department.
Police found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was transported to a hospital by the Torrance Fire Department with an injury that was not considered life-threatening and is expected to make a full recovery.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation in the street involving people attending the party. Gunfire erupted during the confrontation, and the woman was grazed by a bullet.
Police said the shooting was not a drive-by attack and that investigators had found no evidence suggesting it was random or that there was an ongoing threat to the surrounding community.
Detectives are seeking a suspect described as a Black male between approximately 16 and 20 years old.
Officers interviewed numerous witnesses, while detectives have been reviewing surveillance video, gathering statements and following leads to identify and locate the suspect.
