UNITED OIL CO. STRIVES TO BUILD A BETTER EXPERIENCE Family-Owned Company Seeks to Redefine the Service Station Business

Los Angeles based - United Oil Company, is on a mission to educate Los Angeles communities with universal philosophy that encourages its employees to be helpful, kind and courteous, and extends the mission to its customers, known by their employees as the “We Got It” philosophy. The privately owned, family-run business recently celebrated 50 years in business, and are known for creating incredibly clean, vibrant, and artistic gas stations throughout Southern California. All 124 retail stations include modern architecture, custom lighting features, hand painted murals, and has earned a reputation of having the lowest gas prices in town.

United Oil recently launched its own line of retail merchandise, including H20 (Help To Others), a bottled water line that promotes helping others, of which, 10c of every sale goes toward feeding the hungry. This fall, United Oil will also introduce Zooey’s, a homemade line of delicious, mouthwatering baked cookies available for customers inside of the new bakeries currently being built by the company.  United Oil embraces the notion that their stations be more like a pleasant buying experience, supplied with a bevy of products and merchandise, alongside their reputation for impeccable customer service and great prices.

“A United Oil retail station is an extension of our family,” says vice president, Jeff Appel. “The entire United Oil team embodies the energy that ignites positive thinking both within our company and externally with our customers, to promote kindness and respect by helping others with their needs, and give back to the community – this is what we call the “We Got It” philosophy.”

Appel is known for hiring prominent, local architects to design new stations, some that include Jetson’s-esque metallic components, Gaudi-like towers, western-themes, and French tiles, all of which adds to the eclectic look and feel a customer has when at one of the 124 California-based United Oil Station’s.

Additionally, United Oil Co. spearheads a number of community initiatives throughout the year, including the annual  ‘I Got It Makes Cents for Charity’ campaign, an effort to garner awareness for 501c 3 organizations that are in need of funding. In 2009, United Oil donated $24,000 to Haven House, a domestic violence shelter that helps abused women and their children, and in 2010, United Oil donated $80,000 to Operation Smile, who provides free surgeries to repair facial deformities for children around the globe. Last year’s winner of the I Got It Makes Cents campaign, went to the Community Distribution Center (CDC) that provides food for Southern California food banks.

Over the past 5 years, United Oil Co. has also entered into the digital space with the implementation of an in-house production studio located at the United Oil headquarters, based in Gardena. The studio produces high-quality training and management videos for employees, and produces content for the 24/7 “GSTV” (Gas Station TV) digital television Network, that can be seen when pumping gas at various United Oil owned locations. This past spring, United Oil launched an innovative and unique mobile application that features United Oil sites, United Oil news, merchandise, deals and current gas prices at all of their locations. The United Oil Co App is available to download on iTunes and in the Android Store.
