Beloved Restaurant Announces Plans To Close After 32 Years In South Bay

"It's time for a change," the owners wrote in a social media post announcing the eatery's last day of business.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A beloved restaurant, which has been serving up "authentic Lafayette, Louisiana style food" in the South Bay for more than three decades, plans bid farewell to its Redondo Beach location.

Ragin Cajun Cafe will close its doors after 32 years in the South Bay, the owners announced in an Instagram post earlier this month.

“Y’all have grown along with us over the years, many from the very beginning,” the owners said. “We would not be here without all of you! You got us through some tough times, all the FUN times and continue to push us forward and now, it’s time for a change. Ragin Cajun Cafe as you know it, will be closing on March 1.”

The cafe initially started on Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach in 1992 and served customers for nearly 20 years until closing in 2011, according to The Beach Reporter.

After closing, though, the restaurant continued, just in a different setting: The owner took his eatery to the streets as a food truck, the newspaper reported.

In 2013, the restaurant returned to Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach.

The restaurant eventually moved shop to Redondo Beach, where it has been housed for the past 11 and a half years, the owners said in their Facebook post.

“Come in before we’re gone. Come get your favorite dish before it’s gone,” the owners wrote. “Same great food. Same great drinks. Same great atmosphere. Same great chef. Creating all of your Cajun favorites for 32 years straight.”

Ragin Cajun Cafe is located at 525 S Pacific Coast Hwy, Redondo Beach, CA 90277.
