The crew from Kendall-Jackson held an Extra Credit Wine Tasting class last night at Shade Hotel.
I attended the Kendall-Jackson Wine Academy Extra Credit class last night at Shade Hotel and I have to tell you, I had no idea just how much is involved in the production of wine!
The crew from Kendall-Jackson were so friendly, and enthusiastic to share their knowledge and product.
Kendall-Jackson Winemaker Mark Theis and Master Sommelier Larry O'Brien were on hand to answer questions regarding everything from corks to ageing.

The assembled guests ran from oenologists to neophytes and the question and answer segment was an enlightening experience for all.
From cork versus cap, to the provenance of oak purchased for casks, all questions were taken seriously and expertly answered.

Executive Chef Chris Garasic provided a sumptuous sampling of tray-passed hors d’oeuvres that perfectly complimented the vintages.
The day may have started out rainy and gray, but the sun eventually graced us with its presence and hanging out on the Skydeck, sipping fabulous wines, was a lovely—and educational!—way to spend the evening!
Shade Hotel hosts the Wine Academy the third Thursday of each month and whenever a winemaker rolls into town, an Extra Credit class. Pre-sale tickets are $25, at the door, $35.
