Cait Naylor, Daughter Of Redondo Beach Police Captain Dies At 14
Cait was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2019 and the police department announced her death on Jan. 16.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The daughter of Redondo Beach Police Captain Jon Naylor, 14-year-old Cait Naylor, died after suffering from a rare form of cancer according to a statement shared by Mayor Bill Brand on Facebook.
Cait was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2019, a type of cancer that targets soft tissue, connective tissue and bones. Cait died on Jan. 16 surrounded by her family, the RBPD statement said.
"The Redondo Beach Police Department is heartbroken to announce the passing of Cait Naylor... We, as a department, send our thoughts and prayers to Captain Naylor and his family during this most difficult time," RBPD said.

After Cait's diagnosis, the community came together to support the Naylor family by creating yellow #CAITSTRONG bracelets and pins to help pay for medical bills for Cait's medical scans, biopsies, surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy.
Brand said the entire city staff was "devastated" to hear of Cait's death and wishes the family his deepest condolences.

"Cait was an angel through and through! We had similar health struggles so there was an immediate bond formed regardless of age differences," Brand said on Facebook. "Her strength gave me strength, which I still carry."
Currently, the Naylor family is in the process of making funeral arrangements and additional information about services will be shared at a later date. The family asked that any donations in Cait's honor be directed to Children's Cancer Therapy Development Institute.
