Car Chase Ends in Crash and Redondo Beach Police Shooting

Redondo Beach police shot a man following a car chase that ended in a crash and shooting in San Pedro.

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- A pursuit that began in Redondo Beach Saturday ended following an officer-involved shooting in San Pedro, authorities said.

Redondo and Los Angeles police were releasing few details. Redondo Beach police officers initiated a pursuit that led to a vehicle crash and officer- involved shooting in San Pedro at about 5:30 p.m., said Redondo Beach police Lt. Joe Hoffman.

The wounded suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment of "unknown injuries," Hoffman said. No officers were injured.

Although the location of the crash was not released, the California Highway Patrol shut down the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway at Gaffey Street due to police activity.
