Car Crashes Into Big Rig On 405 Freeway, Catches Fire
A man was briefly trapped in the wrecked car, but managed to get out on his own.

TORRANCE, CA – A car caught fire Monday night when it crashed into a big rig on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway near Artesia Boulevard in Torrance. One man was briefly trapped in the wrecked car, but managed to get out on his own.
The California Highway Patrol received a call at 10:37 p.m. of a collision involving a black Nissan and a big rig and the Nissan was on fire.
A man was seen exiting the burning Nissan at 10:40 p.m., complaining of chest pain, but informed officers no one else was in the vehicle, the CHP said. It was unclear if the man was taken to a hospital.

A SigAlert was initially issued at least until midnight for all but the carpool lane of the northbound San Diego Freeway between Crenshaw and Artesia boulevards and later extended to 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. All lanes of the freeway were closed and traffic was being taken off the freeway at Crenshaw Boulevard, the CHP said.
