Video: Adler Campaigns for Change

The 36th Congressional District hopeful holds a fundraiser in Manhattan Beach, and Macy Gray performs.

In his bid for the 36th Congressional District seat, Democratic candidate and Hollywood producer Dan Adler has based his campaign on thinking outside of the box—and there is plenty of star power supporting him.

Famed singer-songwriter Macy Gray entertained a boisterous crowd in support of Adler during a fundraiser for his campaign at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach on Monday night.

Gray's hit record "I Try" was one of the tunes performed. Meanwhile, actor and campaign manager Sean Astin hosted the event with South Bay figureheads Kevin Barry, Chandra Shaw and hotelier Michael Zislis.

Adler stressed the importance of having a non-career politician with fresh, innovative ideas representing the 36th District. He faces  in the May 17 primary election.

Adler did not respond to Patch's candidate questionnaire.
