Door Removed From Frame, Wallet Jacking: Redondo Beach Crime Blotter

The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from June 30 to July 6.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.

Robbery

  • July 1, 2023 – 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – South Pacific Coast Highway and South Prospect Avenue – A person's wallet was stolen while they were walking westbound down Prospect Avenue, according to RBPD. Police said the suspect was a white man about 6 feet tall and he made off with cash, the wallet and the victim's ID.
  • June 29, 2023 – 4:40 p.m. – 1800 block of Hawthorne Avenue – According to RBPD, two people walked into a store and started putting merchandise in trash bags. The property was returned and the two suspects were arrested.
  • July 3, 2023 – 4:09 p.m. to 5:11 p.m. – 500 block of North Francisca Avenue – A man was arrested for attempting to break into a home when the residents were home, police said. According to RBPD, the suspect entered through the northeast gate and smashed a window with a hammer before he fled.
  • July 2-3, 2023 – 6 p.m. to 1 p.m. – 200 block of South Juanita Avenue – A Stant mountain bike was reported stolen from a residential garage, RBPD said. No suspect information was available.
  • June 30-July 1, 2023 – 5 p.m. to 2:20 a.m. – 2900 block of Fisk Lane – According to RBPD, a glass back door to a home was removed from its frame in an attempt to get into the building. No loss was reported and no suspect information was available

Taken From Vehicle

  • June 30 -July 6, 2023 - Redondo Beach - During the reporting period, officers said five catalytic converters were reported stolen from various locations throughout Redondo Beach.

Stolen Vehicles

  • July 1, 2023 - 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. - 2400 block of Carnegie Lane - A white 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck was reported stolen. The vehicle's license plate is 6M85583.
  • June 29, 2023 - 9:15 a.m. to 2:09 p.m. - 100 block of West Torrance Boulevard - According to police, one suspect attempted to take a silver and red 2022 Triumph Street Triple motorcycle by tampering with the wires underneath the ignition. No damage was reported on the bike and the suspect fled the scene, police said.

Recovered Vehicles

  • June 20-21, 2023 - 8 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - 1700 block of Slauson Lane - A black 2005 Chevrolet Silverado that was reported stolen last month was recovered by RBPD on June 23.
  • June 10, 2023 - 5:43 a.m. - South Catalina Avenue and Knob Hill Avenue - A black 2011 Honda CR-V that was reported stolen last month was recovered by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office on July 5.
  • December 18-20, 2022 - 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. - 2000 block of Curtis Avenue - A black 2015 Ford F-150 that was reported stolen in December 2022 was recovered by the Cathedral City Police Department on June 22.
