Fiery 605 Freeway Crash Stops Traffic
At least two lanes were blocked for about 90 minutes and traffic was backed up for miles, authorities said.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – A multi-vehicle crash on the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway near Norwalk Monday resulted in a fiery scene and some injuries, blocking at least two lanes for about 90 minutes and bringing traffic to a complete stop, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 5:28 a.m. at Firestone Boulevard, said California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Nicholson. A van caught fire, but the driver got out unharmed, the CHP said.
Vehicles blocked the HOV lane and the No. 3 lane, Nicholson said. Traffic was backed up for miles.

CHP officers diverted traffic off the freeway at Firestone Boulevard while crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes were reopened by about 7 a.m., Nicholson said.
