Former RUHS Football Player Arrested on Suspicion of Possessing Controlled Substance

San Diego Chargers safety Kevin Ellison was arrested Monday in Redondo Beach on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, police said.

Ellison, 23, was stopped for speeding in a school zone around Redondo Union High School on Monday afternoon, said Sgt. Peter Grimm of the Redondo Beach Police Department. When an officer searched his vehicle, he found 100 tablets of Vicodin, the police said.

Ellison was booked on one count of possession of a controlled substance at the Redondo Beach Jail, then released on a $10,000 bail bond, Grimm said. 

He is due in L.A. County Superior Court in Torrance on July 7.

The 6-foot 1-inch Ellison played for the Sea Hawks and USC. He started nine games as a rookie for the Chargers during the 2009 season, making 52 tackles.
