A Little Free Library is a permanent cabinet — usually made of wood with a glass front — filled with books and displayed in a publicly accessible location. Working on the honor system, people are then asked to return the books when they are through with them and/or add new ones.

“We love the idea of promoting reading and community-building by supporting book exchanges specifically in our tight knit community,” said Beryl Heights Elementary Principal, Karen Mohr. “We are excited as a school to team up with our local Girl Scout troop and promote literacy amongst our neighbors.”

“We wanted our library to be a representation of the girls’ hard work and their commitment to making the world a better place, starting with the community they live in.,” said Troop Leaders, Jessica Rendes and Odette Matthews. “With the girls now in first grade, they are starting to read more and are excited to visit the new Little Free Library and pick out books to read or donate books they’ve already read.”
