Community Corner
Good Morning, Redondo
It rained Monday, so you know what that means—stay out of the water.

Monday brought the first significant rainfall of the season, and a warning by Heal the Bay to avoid ocean water contact for 72 hours due to polluted runoff. Tuesday? We've got another meeting about the future of a facility plagued by water quality control issues.
The City Council will once again debate what to do about Seaside Lagoon during its session Tuesday night at City Hall. For much of the year, the city has been going back and forth with the regional water quality control board over the levels of total suspended solids and minerals in the water that the aquatic facility releases back into the harbor. During the City Council's last session, legislators despaired about ever satisfying regulators and suggested the most-fiscally sound strategy might be to close the attraction down for good. The city's next meeting with the water quality control regulators is Thursday.
At 6:30 p.m., the Redondo Beach Unified School Board will debate the merits of two competing proposals for the Knob Hill Community Center. Mar Ventures wants to build an apartment complex, while another group proposes a Christian high school called Ambassador High. Nearby residents have been lobbying the city to retain offices in the building, which was Patterson Elementary until 1981.
