Hole Drilled In Gas Tank, Stolen E-Bikes: Redondo Beach Crime Blotter

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.

Shoplifting

• Aug. 26, 2023 – 11:13 p.m. – 1400 block of Hawthorne Boulevard – Two minors were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from a Redondo Beach store, according to police. RBPD said the boys selected and concealed merchandise in a backpack and attempted to leave the store. According to authorities, one of the suspects fought with a security guard and threatened to come back. All of the stolen items were recovered and the two boys were arrested, RBPD said.

Commercial Burglary

• Aug. 28-29, 2023 - 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. - 2400 block of Artesia Boulevard - Clothing and donated items were reported stolen from a locked storage container, police said. Authorities said the lock was cut off. No suspect information was available.
• Aug. 25, 2023 - 6:44 p.m. - 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - A wallet with cash and two credit cards inside was stolen from a break room of a store, police said. The suspect was described as a Hispanic woman who was about 5 feet and 8 inches tall.
• Aug. 17-18, 2023 - 12 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. - 2400 block of Artesia Boulevard - Clothing and donated items were reported stolen from a locked storage container, police said. Authorities said the lock was cut off. No suspect information was available.

Residential Burglary

• Aug. 25-26, 2023 - 12 a.m. to 12 a.m. - 1100 block of Barbara Street - Various tools were reported stolen from a storage cabinet in an apartment garage. A Milwaukee multitool, four medical hoses, a Milwaukee hand drill, a medical sprayer, a Milwaukee sawzall, garbage bags and hazmat suits were reported stolen.
• Aug. 18-19, 2023 - 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. - 1200 block of Esplanade - A RAD power e-bike was reported stolen from an apartment building's underground parking garage, according to police. No suspect information was available.
• Aug. 14-15, 2023 - 3 p.m. to 8:15 a.m. - 200 block of Camino Real - An e-bike was reported stolen from where it was secured with a latched gate at a home, police said. No suspect information was available.

Vehicle Burglary

• Aug. 25, 2023 - 6 a.m. to 7:05 a.m. - 900 block of North Pacific Coast Highway - A purse containing a wallet, a driver's license, an Android cell phone with a case and credit cards were reported stolen from a blue 2020 Jeep Wrangler, police said. According to RBPD, the front passenger window was smashed. No suspect information was available.
• Aug. 19, 2023 - 11:28 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. - 200 block of North Prospect Avenue - A suspect broke into a UPS truck to steal miscellaneous mail and three containers, RBPD said. According to police, the driver's side window was smashed. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man who left the scene in a gray Toyota Sienna.
• Aug. 16-17, 2023 - 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - 2100 block of Vanderbilt Lane - Earrings, a necklace, a Gucci watch, an Apple laptop computer and personal documents were reported stolen from a black Land Rover Discovery, RBPD said. No suspect information was available.
• Aug. 15-16, 2023 - 5 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. - 1300 block of Esplanade - A wallet, with cash, a driver's license and a debit card were reported stolen from a black Lexus Es. No suspect information was available.

• Aug. 24, 2023 - 1:26 p.m. to 2:08 p.m. - 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - A suspect allegedly broke into a car and stole an iPhone 6, clothing, weight gloves, elastic bands and a gym bag according to police. No suspect information was available.
• Aug. 20, 2023 - 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. - 2200 block of Artesia Boulevard - A suspect allegedly drilled a hole into the gas tank of a white 2000 Mazda B Series, RBPD said.
• Aug. 16-17, 2023 - 2 p.m. to 5:35 a.m. - 2300 block of Hill Lane - A rotor hammer, a drill, four battery chargers and batteries, an impact drill, a grinder and a sawzaw were reported stolen from a white 2021 Ford F-150, according to police. No suspect information was available.
• Aug. 15-16, 2023 - 5:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. - 500 block of North Elena Avenue - A license plate was taken off of a black 1999 Toyota Tacoma, RBPD said. No information about any suspects was available.
• Aug. 18-31, 2023 - Redondo Beach - In the reporting period, two catalytic converters were stolen from various locations throughout the city, according to authorities.

Stolen Vehicles

• Aug. 24-28, 2023 - 12:30 p.m. to 11:23 p.m. - 500 block of South Francisca Avenue - A white and blue 2023 Honda Nps50 moped was reported stolen. the scooter's license plate is 25V5697.
• Aug. 24, 2023 - 9:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. - 700 block of High Lane - A red 2008 Yamaha Xf50 C3 was reported stolen but it was later recovered by RBPD on Aug. 24.
• Aug. 22-23, 2023 - 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. - 400 block of Avenue F - A blue 2022 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 was reported stolen. The motorcycle's license plate is 25S5119.
• Aug. 22-23, 2023 - 3 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. - 500 block of Sapphire Street - A white 2021 GMC Sierra was reported stolen but was later recovered by the California Highway Patrol at the border on Aug. 28.
• Aug. 17, 2023 - 2 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. - 2600 block of Artesia Boulevard - A black 2004 BMW X3 was reported stolen but was later recovered by RBPD on Aug. 17.
