Local Collecting Laptops For Low Income Students

This Redondo Beach resident is looking for unwanted, used laptops to refurbish and donate to students in need.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – Students won't succeed if they don't have the right tools to do so. But Redondo Beach resident David Lombard is doing his part to make sure local students flourish by collecting unwanted, but still functioning, laptops and refurbishing them to donate to students in need.

After erasing personal data, Lombard loads software for use at school before donating the finished products to teachers who work with low income and special needs students, he told Patch. He's now looking for more laptop donations to help the teachers he supports.

"I mostly work directly with teachers that I meet through friends and social media," he said. "I give them the laptops, and they use them as they see fit – either in their classroom, or giving them to students."

Donated laptops that can't be used are properly recycled, he said.

If you have a laptop available to donate, contact David Lombard on Facebook.
