Motorcyclist Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash On 405 Freeway In Torrance

The crash was possibly triggered by a wrong way motorist in a white pickup truck, who was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – A motorcyclist was killed Sunday on the San Diego (405) Freeway in a two-vehicle Torrance crash possibly triggered by a wrong way motorist in a white pickup truck, who was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

The crash was on the southbound 405 freeway at Artesia Boulevard a little after 3 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported. A SigAlert was issued at 3:15 a.m. as all southbound lanes were closed. The 405 was fully reopened after 9 a.m.

According to sources at the scene, the motorist in the pickup truck was driving north in the southbound traffic lanes, where he suffered some injuries from the crash. He was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
