No Block Parties Or Fireworks Planned For July 4 In Redondo Beach

No neighborhood block party permits were approved and no fireworks show is planned for July 4, Redondo Beach city officials announced.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — July 4 will look different this year in Redondo Beach. No permits were issued for neighborhood block parties and there will be no fireworks display on the holiday.

City officials in Redondo Beach are asking the public to continue following Los Angeles County health guidelines and continue social distancing this July 4.

"Due to the continuing risk of community spread of COVID-19, July 4 will be different this year in Redondo Beach," officials said in a news release. "There will be no fireworks display on July 4, and no permits have been issued for neighborhood block parties."

"Everyone is being asked to do their part to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing and by following state and county public health requirements," officials said.

LA Galaxy canceled its fireworks display for July 4. Marina del Rey's annual fireworks display was also canceled due to the pandemic.

In Santa Monica, the annual July 4 parade on Main Street and pre-holiday celebration and fireworks at Santa Monica College were called off.
