Ohana Dance Hosts Salsa Dancing Event And Auction To Raise Money For New Studio

The event will take place Saturday, August 12 at Our Lady of Guadalupe School in Hermosa Beach.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Ohana Dance is hosting a Salsa Night Saturday, August 12 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe School in Hermosa Beach to raise money for a new dance studio. The event will include a celebrity guest appearance, performance by Stephanie Kim, a silent and live auction, salsa instruction, DJ, dancing, "light bites," and a bar, according to the Facebook event.

The auction will include LA Rams ad 49er tickets, autographed sports memorabilia from the Lakers, Kings, and Sharks, and an evening with a celebrity chef, among others.

Founder and Artistic Director of Ohana Dance Krista Kupau, whose grandmother was born and raised in Hawaii, learned Hula from a "world renowed Hula master, Aloha Dalire" based out of Kaneohe, Hawaii. After moving to Los Angeles, Kupau saw a need for an intimate dance studio after her daughter couldn't find the right fit. Kupau opened Ohana Dance, and the main focus for her studio is small class sizes and proper training in addition to teaching from a place of aloha (love), according to a statement from Kupau.

The money raised from the fundraiser will go towards a new studio — currently, the children at Ohana dance need additional classes, and a larger space for full rehearsals, according to the statement.

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased here. The event is for those 21 and older.
