Palos Verdes High School senior Abbie Maemoto was one of the 2021 recipients of the prestigious Coca Cola Scholarship.

She went through a rigorous application process from a pool of 99,403 applicants across the country.
1,609 students were selected as semifinalists after an initial, lengthy application.

From there, 250 regional finalists were selected, where they had to complete another round of essay.
150 were selected as winners after a lengthy panel interview to be recipients of the $20,000 merit scholarship.
Abbie is honored to be a recipient of the scholarship and greatly appreciates the opportunities and the quality education she has received through the PVPUSD.
She is currently deciding between Stanford University, Yale University, CalTech, and John Hopkins to continue her education.
