Pedestrian Killed By Unlicensed Suspected DUI Driver In Torrance
The man suffered major injuries and was treated by paramedics but died at the scene, a police official said.
REDONDO BEACH, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed Saturday on a Torrance street by a woman who's suspected of driving under the influence and was not licensed, police said.
The crash took place about 6:10 a.m. near the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Maricopa Street, Torrance Police Sgt. Ronald Harris said.
The driver – identified as 30-year-old Erica Deleon of Los Angeles – was heading south on Crenshaw Boulevard in a 2018 black Nissan Sentra and went through the intersection on a green light when she collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk, Harris continued.

The man suffered major injuries and was treated by paramedics but died at the scene, Harris said. The victim's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
During the investigation, officers recovered suspected narcotics from Deleon, who was unlicensed, police said. Deleon was arrested at the scene.

Southbound lanes on Crenshaw were closed from Del Amo to Torrance boulevards. Eastbound lanes on Maricopa street were closed at Crenshaw Boulevard, Harris added.
