Photo Gallery: Happy Birthday, Redondo Beach

The Redondo Beach Historical Commission and the Redondo Beach Historical Society hosted an event to celebrate the city's 118th birthday Saturday at Heritage Court.

The City of Redondo Beach was established on April 29, 1892, when voters adopted the cityhood. The city was well served by rail and steamship lines and was the first port of Los Angeles County, according to the Historical Society. With the opening of the Hotel Redondo in 1890, Redondo Beach was already known as a popular resort and recreational destination in Southern California.

The Historical Museum and the Morrell House featured new displays, artifacts, exhibits and the vintage automibiles, which are owned by Councilmember Pat Aust,  for the celebration.
