Police Blotter: Burglary, Graffiti, Death Threats

Uninvited mover: On Friday, April 2, 5:44 a.m., the residents in the 1900 block of Speyer Lane were moving and they left boxes in the foyer of their house. One of the residents heard noises coming from the front door. He walked to the direction where he saw a male suspect inside the house. The suspect turned, ran out of the house and escaped westbound on Speyer Lane. The suspect was not located after an immediate check of the area.

Domestic death threats: On Friday, April 2, at 12:07 p.m., police responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Grant Avenue regarding threats made by a male suspect toward his wife. The suspect owns several handguns and made death threats to the wife and another family member. The suspect was located at the residence and arrested without incident. A search warrant was served at a storage facility in the neighborhood in connection with this incident, where evidence connected to the crime was recovered.  

South Side Redondo Beach: On Saturday, April 3, police found graffiti at five separate locations in south Redondo Beach. An unknown number of suspects spray-painted "SSRB" (South Side Redondo Beach) on various walls along the Esplanade and Pacific Coast Highway.

Suicide mission: On Saturday, April 3, at 11:29 p.m., police responded a call from the 600 block of Emerald Street regarding a subject who was suicidal and possibly in possession of a loaded handgun. Officers contained the house and made contact with the subject. The subject was hostile and angry, possibly due to intoxication. The subject did not want any type of help and refused to meet with the officers.  

Mexicali earthquake: On Sunday, April 4, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck in Mexicali, Mexico at 3:40 p.m. Redondo Beach Police Department responded to several audible alarm calls as a result of the earthquake. No damage was seen or reported in Redondo Beach as a result of the earthquake.
