Local Public Schools Rank in Top 10th Percentile
All Redondo Beach campuses surpass the statewide API goal.
All public schools within the Redondo Beach Unified School District ranked in the top 10th percentile of campuses across the state and earned Academic Performance Index (API) scores higher than the statewide goal, according to 2009 education data released Thursday.
The California Department of Education report breaks campuses into deciles and compares them with almost 10,000 public schools in the state. A separate ranking compares individual schools with those that have similar demographic statistics.
API is a measurement of academic performance and growth of individual schools in California. An API score, which can range from 200 to 1,000, is calculated based on all students in a school. There are also API scores that measure each subgroup within a school (such as by race, English learner status, disability or socioeconomic factors). California sets 800 as the statewide goal.
